The reason cannabis is so effective at treating a wide variety of medical conditions is due to the many active chemical compounds know as cannabinoids. These plant based modules, technically known as “phytocannabinoids,” have such a profound effect on the human body, because our bodies already contain cannabinoid throughout the central nervous system, immune system and brain. These receptors found throughout our body make up what is known as the endocannabinoid system (ECS).
The primary cannabinoids that most people are familiar with is THC and CBD. Many people know THC since its the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis that produces the ‘high’ or ‘stoned’ effect. CBD on the other hand has become extremely popular recently for its health benefits and has been making headlines for treating epilepsy in children. Many non-stoner types are turning to a wide variety of products that contain CBD in drinks, creams, food and just about every form imaginable, due to its health benefits and non-psychoactive properties.
